Product Overview
Clonazepam Tablets IP (Indian Pharmacopoeia) is an oral medication widely prescribed for its anticonvulsant, anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing), and muscle-relaxant properties. It is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant that helps stabilize abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
Key Indications
-
Seizure Control: Used alone or as an adjunct therapy to treat various types of epilepsy and seizures, including status epilepticus, myoclonic seizures, and absence seizures.
-
Panic Disorder: Highly effective in managing panic attacks, agoraphobia (fear of crowded places), and acute anxiety symptoms.
-
Off-Label Uses: Occasionally prescribed under strict supervision for restless legs syndrome, acute mania, or insomnia.
Mechanism of Action
Clonazepam enhances the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain. By boosting GABA neurotransmission, it slows down central nervous system activity, providing a rapid calming effect on overexcited nerve pathways.
